Cold Steel Machete Kukri, There's no single edged weapon that can out-chop or out-cut a good Kukri. Of course it's true that the best Kukris, like the LTC and Gurkha models, can be somewhat expensive. While those "thoroughbreds" perform extraordinarily well for the money that they cost, it sometimes seems that what's required is a good, inexpensive, "workhorse" model. The Kukri Machete IS that workhorse. It features the distinctive weight-forward balance of our "top-of-the-line" models, and always presents its edge on an angle so it's guaranteed to "bite" DEEP with every stroke. This knife, with its included, sturdy Cordura sheath is a solid value-a bargain priced Kukri- ready for long, hard work. Specifications: - Weight: 16 oz. - Blade Thick: 7/64" (2.75mm) - Blade Length: 13" - Handle: 5" long. Polypropylene - Overall: 18" - Steel: 1055 Carbon Steel w/ Black Baked on Anti Rust Matte Finish - Sheath: Cordura Sheath, Mfg No: 97KMS, Manufacturer: Cold Steel, Warranty: Cold Steel stands behind their knives 100%. The fixed blade sheath knives have a five-year warranty to the original owner against defects in materials or workmanship. The folding knives are warranted for one year.

Prefered Over a Machete and Hatchet2010-06-104 / 5
Yeah, the edge is crap when you get it, but after a good sharpening, it works like a charm. I just got back from a 3 day camping trip that I brought this along on. We also had a hatchet and a machete. 5 other people and myself used all 3 during the trip, and we decided we liked the kukri the best because of it size and overall usefulness. I definitely recommend.
Would go to war with it.2010-06-025 / 5
This amazing blade was delivered right to my mailbox. Came sharp and 20 minutes with a cheap sharpener made it sharp enough to shave with.

Excellent balance and weight. Even with a broken wrist I take out saplings with one or two swings. Dug a hole in a 2x4 without damaging the tip at all.
nice knife2010-06-024 / 5
Very light, which is good for practical use but a disappointment for a collector like me. Good edge and solid construction. If you are looking for a functional then Kukri then this if for you.
Heavy weight machete w/terrible grind2010-04-263 / 5
Bought this to compare to my Ontario 12 in blade machete.....has the same 1095 steel about 50% thicker, I figured it would chop better. It also has a contoured grip...much smaller in diameter...feels good in the hand but the texture does heat up the hand w/heavy work. I wrapped the Ontario para-cord it feels great no matter how hard you work it, will probably do the same for the Kukri. While I didn't expect much in sharpness the grind on my kukri was terrible, ground to a much steeper angle on one side than the other. It would twist in hand on chopping contact...Well that's why I buy 1095 steel after work w/file and the grind is much steeper and balanced, it did create a flat spot in the curve of the blade. Shape of the blade makes the sheath need two snaps. The heavier blade does give more chopping power.I'm not so sure the kukri shape has that much to do w/it. I like my American made, strait, 12 in Ontario, lite easier to sharpen/simple sheath. The kukri's fun though.
This is a serious tool/weapon2010-04-245 / 5
I received my Cold Steel Kukri Machete in a timely fashion, and I was extremely impressed with the quality for such a modest price. It's true that the factory edge was far from ideal, but a little work with a file and Arkansas stone delivered a razor sharp edge. As for performance, this is a serious chopper, comparable to a hatchet on limbs and small trees. And the Kukri really holds its edge, indicating the quality of the 1550 steel used in its manufacture. Also, the 1/8 inch thickness of the blade makes it much more rigid than a traditional machete, so the blade doesn't turn when attacking thicker materials like a regular machete does. Excellent product, and I'd highly recommend it for camping, clearing brush and the like.
