Environmentally Friendly and Easy to AssembleWith the Scotts 2000-20 Classic Push Reel Lawnmower, you not only save yourself the expense of purchasing gasoline, but you also decrease your carbon footprint by eliminating the pollution created by a gas mower. Powered by you, this mower has no complicated engine components to deal with and assembles with no tools required, so you can be ready to cut the grass within minutes of receiving your new lawnmower.
Wider Cutting Width Reduces Time and Effort
The Scotts 2000-20 Classic Push Reel Lawnmower features a wider-than-average 20-inch cutting width that reduces time and effort on your part. A wide 20-inch cutting path will reduce the number of passes required to cut your lawn, so you will get the job done more quickly and more efficiently.
Quick-Snap Height Adjusters Mean Easy Custom Control
Get complete control over the height of your lawn. The easy-to-use quick-snap height adjusters provide fingertip control over your blade height for precision cuts. Adjustable from one to three inches, they easily fit into nine different height slots and stay securely locked in place thanks to quick-snap technology.
Precision Blade Technology and Ball Bearing Reel
The five-spider, five-blade reel features five heat-treated steel blades for accurate cuts every time. Designed with smooth ball bearings, the blades spin efficiently as you push the mower. Each blade slices through grass with extreme precision, leaving behind fine mulch, which is essential for a healthy lawn. The five-blade cutting action is designed to provide precision performance over the life of the mower, and its tough, heavy-duty steel design is built to last.
Dual Wheel Tracking for Maneuverability
The Scotts Classic Push Reel Lawnmower features two 10-inch composite wheels with radial tires plus two six-inch tracking wheels for added maneuverability. This innovative dual wheel tracking technology eliminates drag and makes it easier to push the Scotts 2000-20 mower over even the toughest terrain. The loop-style handle with foam grip provides added comfort during operation and also enhances the mower's maneuverability.
The Scotts 2000-20 20-Inch Classic Push Reel Lawnmower weighs approximately 34 pounds (shipping weight) and is backed by a two-year warranty.

I bought the Scotts 20 inch reel mower last summer based upon positive reviews and a wish to be environmentally responsible. We have a small yard (two to three thousand square feet) and at the time I figured the Scotts mower would be enough. Assembly was straight forward and I was initially pleased with the mowers result...maybe I was in denial? As the summer moved along, I began to regret my enviromentally responsible purchase. I had only ever used gas mowers and expected that a pass would neatly cut the grass. The Scotts mower pretty much never resulted in a clean pass. There always seemed to be a couple of dozen stubborn grass shoots still standing, resulting in additional passes. Don't expect the Scotts mower to edge the area cut, you'll need to weed eat. By the end of the summer I had given up. I wouldn't bother with second and third passes, instead opting to pull the stray shoots by hand. The handle had torn (most likely my fault) and the frame of the mower felt loose, despite tightening. I'm giving in this summer and replacing the reel with a corded mower. If you're looking to simply trim the grass and don't care about appearance, then the Scotts mower may be a good choice for you. If you want a neat, clean cut, look elsewhere.

Before I bought this I read other reviews and they were very helpful in not expecting too much on this product. I love having it but there are many times when a power mower is still necessary. And it requires a lot of preparation to remove any leaves or twigs that it can't handle. Also, you have to mow more often becaue if you let the lawn get too long it can't handle it. Also, my lawn is not thick so I'm not sure if it could handle a really thick, lush lawn. I like that I am not using gasoline and that I get more of a workout when I mow. I've used it for one season and had no problems. The cover on the handle looks like it will wear out fast. I regret buying the grass catcher - it is not necessary since you can't wait to mow when it is too long.

I like this mower a lot. The only problem is (as many have already said better than I could) it is not for the unmotivated or anyone with a big lawn. When I bought this mower, I had visions of scoffing at gas prices, getting some quality time outdoors, and losing so much weight that my female neighbors would stare longingly at my rippling six-pack as I labored in my front yard. What I ended up with was a mower that mainly pushed the blades of grass over, mocking my every effort and a wife who told me to "put your shirt back on" as she laughed at me from our front porch, sipping lemonade. Reality sucks. I did use it quite a bit in the front yard once I got the lawn under control and it was nice to not have to pick up grass and to be able to mow without ear protection on. And the gas savings was a boost. The mower is solid and does what it is supposed to do, but it truly is best for small areas and people who can mow their lawns pretty regularly.

This mower is high quality, easy to assemble, and works ideally. Do I wish it had a counterweight like versions 30 years ago? Yes. That aside, it's easy to change the height of the blade, and the quality of the product is quite high (note: we've only had it two months and only used it twice, so I can't attest to quality over time).
From my initial uses of the mower, I'm confident we got the best reel mower around the $125-150 price point. |

I've only used it a handful of times so far, but it already exceeds my expectations. It cuts evenly and even is forgiving with leaves. Yes, I have to double back occasionally, but mainly only in ares with weeds or preexisting long bent over grass. I highly recommend this product. A joy to use. I actually look forward to mowing the lawn!
