PROS This worked great in Belize. We spent three nights in the Jungle without a single mosquito or bug bite of any kind. During this time we went on hikes thru the jungle and were in and on rivers as well as caves. The mosquitos were swarming around the other hikers. Several hikers' legs were covered in bites and swelled by the end of the trails. The only bites we got were on the plane ride home because we didn't have any bug spray on. Who knew there'd be mosquitos on the plane too. We also used SAWYER PREMIUM CLOTHING INSECT REPELLENT on our clothes which helped with any bugs that would land directly on your clothes or hat like ticks--kills them dead. awesome.
CONS The 100 deet does feel hot on your skin at first but that passes. I don't recommend it on your face (it'll make your lips numb--that can't be healthy:) Also don't apply it near woodwork or set the bottle on wood work because it takes the finish off the wood. Deet can be hazardous to your health especially prolonged exposure and on children.
But for a short period of time in extreme conditions to avoid more deadly parasites I think it was well worth it!! Malaria, Dengue fever, Filariasis, leishmaniasis, onchocerciasis (River blindness), and American trypanosomiasis (Chagas' disease) are all diseases carried by insects that also occur in Central America. Myiasis (botfly) is endemic in Central America and thats the last thing I wanted to bring home with me on vacation if I could help it. Thanks Sawyer.

| Intended for use in Alaska where mosquitoes were reported to be really bad. Couldn't get the spray to work. Had to find a sharp object to open the hole but then product just drizzled out. Did seem to ward off mosquitoes but we just left it because of the mess of application. |

| I ordered it specifically in preparation for a trip to Michigan's Upper Peninsula, where the mosquitoes are legendary. The product protected me completely, it doesn't have an annoying odor, and it goes on clean. |

| I rake leaves in the fall and spring. I spend a lot of time around bushes, tall grass, and trees. Sometimes I have to go in the woods to get the leaves out from the perimeter of a yard. Needless to say, I am in tick strongholds every day. After I started using this product, not one tick was to be found on my body at the end of a long day. The best thing to do is combine this with premethrin for your clothes to have the ultimate protection from ticks and other pests. If you must put some on your face, be careful and use it sparingly. An excellent and powerful product. |
