| I BOUGHT THIS ITEM TO REPLACE ONE I HAD HAD FOR 7 YEARS. IT SEEMS TO BE WORKING BUT HOW DO YOU EVER KNOW FOR SURE? THIS DETECTS CARBON MONOXIDE, SOMETHING YOU CAN NOT SMELL AT ALL. THE ONE I HAD BEFORE STARTED GOING OFF BUT NOT AS A WARNING OF DETECTION, IT WAS JUST BEEPING RANDOMLY AND SCARING MY LITTLE TERRIER. THE NEW ONE IS ON THE WALL WHERE THE OLD ONE WAS. I LIKE THAT IT IS BATTERY AND NOT ELECTRIC LIKE MY OLD ONE. IT IS VERY COMPACT AND NOT VERY NOTICEABLE SIZE WISE. I LIKE THE DIGITAL READOUT. IF IT DETECTS ANY AT ALL, IT WILL SHOW YOU THE PERCENTAGE ON THE SCREEN. I AM HAPPY WITH IT SO FAR. |

I bought this monitor because we use an unvented fireplace and need to be certain there is complete combustion. So far, so good. It will mount on the wall but I am using the excellent stand until I am sure of where I want to put it.
Would have been five stars but I have yet to figure out what the historical high-level reading is measuring, if anything.

| We've had this for a few months, and so far it has worked just fine. I like that it has a stand on the back, so if you don't want to hang it up on your wall, you don't have to. |

Product works as expected. Easy setup. If I were to be picky, it would be nice (simple) to have optional setup/adhesive adherements/attachments to be easily placed where a screw or hole is not desired. Recommended. |

bought a second one of these to give to a recent graduate. first one has worked flawlessly and has great battery life. the batteries in the new unit had leaked in the packaging forcing me to open up and clean the package before putting in fresh USA made Duracell batteries and reseal.
Note to Kidde: if you can't send good batteries, don't send any. |
